2010 Salam School Science Fair Elementary School Judge Information
For the Middle School Science Fair there will be approximately 155 projects to be judged twice. The total approximate judging would be 310. The goal is to have a minimum of 20 (twenty) judges. Each judge would be asked to judge approximately (average) 15 projects for approximately 7-10 minutes each. In the case of any ties or questions, those students will be judged a third time. Judges will have orientation in the science lab or gym from 8-8:30 with Mrs. Mann. Other teachers will continue with set-up in the gym. Each judge will be given a folder/package. This will include nametags, how to be a good science fair judge guidelines and evaluation sheets. Mrs. Mann will explain the days schedule, overall expectations and answer questions, Mrs. Mann will have a model display set-up and explain what type of information the student is required to give the judge and the questions that the judge can expect the students to answer.
During lunch the judges will be given a certificate of appreciation.

October 01, 2010
To: Prospective Science Fair Judges
From: Mrs. Kay Mann
Subject: 2011 Salam School Science Fair for Middle School, Salam School Science Fair for High School and Salam School Science Fair for Elementary
Dear Perspective Judge:
We are seeking qualified judges for the Salam School Science Fair. We are holding three science fairs and are seeking volunteers for all three. The Middle School Science Fair and the High School Science Fair will be held at Salam School, the main campus, located at 4709 S. 13th on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 (Middle School) and Tuesday, January 25, 2011 (High School). The Salam School Elementary Science Fair will be held at the elementary campus on Thursday, January 27, 2011. In order to accommodate the large number of student participants anticipated, we would need a minimum of twenty (20) judges for Middle School, fifteen (15) judges for High School and fifteen (15) judges for Elementary School. It has been our experience that teachers or professionals from the science area make the best judges. Not only do they have the professional background to judge an exhibit on the grounds of its scientific merit, but they also realize the abilities of the students.
You can help in two ways: first, by volunteering to serve as a judge and second, by recruiting others.
Serving as a science fair judge is a rewarding experience that will take little of your valuable time. If you are able to volunteer on January 25, January 26 or January 27, 2011 (from 8:00 AM to approximately 2:30 PM), fill out the enclosed Judge Information Form and mail it to the address on the form. We anticipate the need for a number of judges. Each judge would be asked to evaluate 15 to 20 projects during a full day period. There will be a light breakfast served before the judging begins and a light lunch at 11:00a.m.
Please duplicate copies of this letter and the Judge Information Form and distribute them to friends and colleagues.
For further information on science fair judging, contact Kay Mann at 414-282-0504 kmann@salamschool.com or Wanis Shalaby mailto:wshalaby@salamschool.com
Thank you in advance for your commitment to the students of Salam School.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kay Mann (Salam Middle School Science Teacher)
